TWO NUMBERS, NOT ONE.

Infrared rejection
98%

The figure most shops put on the wall. Measured on the film alone, often over a narrow band. Always the larger number.

Total solar energy rejection
65%

Measured across the full spectrum, on glass. This is the one that tracks how the car actually feels.

We publish both, for every series. When you compare us with anyone else, compare the second one.

THE FILM.

Autovia is our own brand. We source film from several international manufacturers and sell it under our name, which means we are not free to publish theirs.

What we can publish is everything that affects your car.

SEE IT BEFORE YOU BUY.

Bring the car in. We will show you the difference on glass, with the meter in your hand.

Your glass

Six metal layers for the heat, six nano-ceramic for everything else. Some brands count twelve metal layers — more metal means more heat rejection and more signal blocking. This is the trade we chose.

Does not read

SmartTAG reads by infrared, through the windscreen. Any film that rejects infrared reduces that signal — and many cars now leave the factory with infrared-reflective glass of their own, so the answer depends on your car as much as on the film.

Every other series is unaffected. With Imperial Pro, keep your Touch 'n Go tag on the headlamp; if it is already on the windscreen, mention it when you book.

Our sputtered series can be fitted to every window on the car. Phone signal and navigation are not affected.

If you are quoted a sputtered or metallised film elsewhere, it is worth asking whether it can go on every window, or only the windscreen.

THE FIRST FEW DAYS.

The mounting solution needs time to dry. Warm, sunny weather shortens it; cool or wet weather lengthens it.

DAY 0–3

Small water pockets and a slightly cloudy look. This is normal. Keep the windows up.

DAY 3–7

It clears. The film will dry out. Windows can go down again.

DAY 30

First clean. Before that, leave the glass alone. No ammonia, ever.

TERMS TO KNOW
TSER — Total Solar Energy Rejection

The share of all solar energy rejected by the filmed glass. Higher means less heat gets in.

IR — Infrared Rejection

The share of infrared rejected, often measured over a narrow band and on the film alone.

VLT — Visible Light Transmission

How much visible light passes through. 70% is light, 20% is dark. This is what JPJ regulates.

Sputtered film

Metal layers deposited onto the film. Strong heat rejection; the construction decides what it does to signals.

Frequently Asked Questions
Under the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Certain Types of Glass) Rules, the front windscreen must pass at least 70% of visible light and the front side windows at least 50%. The rear side windows and the rear windscreen have no VLT limit.

So you can run the back of the car as dark as you like and still be legal. We check every car against these figures before we cut, and the VLT we fit is printed on your warranty record.
Nano Ceramic uses ceramic particles to block heat — safe for GPS and toll systems. Sputter applies metallic coating at molecular level for higher IR rejection. Our Royal, Supreme, and Imperial Pro series use Sputter for maximum heat performance.
TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejected) is more complete — it includes UV, visible light, and IR. IR rejection only measures infrared heat. We provide both figures for all our series.
Keep windows rolled up for at least 24–36 hours after installation to allow the film to fully cure and bond to the glass.
Wait 7 days before cleaning the inside. Use a soft microfiber cloth and window film cleaner. Never use blades or abrasive materials on tinted glass.
